Terminology for BL (Boy’s Love) and GL (Girl’s Love)

Shonen ai is an obsolete term for boy’s love Japan, though it is used in the west.

Yaoi for BL is not used in Japan but used a great deal in the west.

Shojo ai can be used for girl’s love, however in Japan it means pedophile involving a young girl.

Special names for fans of these genres.

Fujoshi – rotten girls – this was used to insult female readers who would pair male/male.
Fundashi – men who are fans of BL.
